[2021 Recap & Review] A Lifetime Contained in 1 Year

For real it felt like I lived at least 20 years worth of life events within this one year and this post’s title best describes what I felt about this year.

Just when we all hoped 2021 would be better than 2020 it just gets worse, huh.

For new readers or for readers who may forget what’s the point of these end of year recaps, basically I try my best to remember all sorts of stuff that happened in otome/josei-muke news, what I did during the year and small bite size reviews of those things I did/watch/play during 2021. I also have a lil summary of blog stats too. I’ll add a lil navigation thingy to make it easier to jump to the sections you want to read and skip the stuff you don’t want to.

So without further adieu, Billy’s (totally on time and not written and posted in the year of 2022) 2021 in a recap!

As always this one is gonna be a long read so get comfortable and probably mark the spot where you last read if you’re gonna take breaks (or stop reading lol).

[Spotlight] Genshin Impact’s First Anniversary Concert to be Streamed Globally on OCT 3rd

That’s right babey, I’ve become a Genshin blogger (jk). Considering miHoYo reached out to me for this and I like playing Genshin, and this is my hobby blog I thought sure why not write about this. It’s not really otome-related but it is close to my hobby and hopefully (hopefully) the female demographic playing Genshin grows so miHoYo can realise there’s a market that really wants more male characters in Genshin lol.

Announced at Gamescom 2021 (August 25th, 2021), as a way to celebrate Genshin Impact’s Anniversary, which first released on September 28, 2020, miHoYo will be treating every fan around the world a 90 minute long orchestral concert streaming for free on October 3rd.

More details under the cut and some details about First Anniversary in-game campaigns coming up.

[Mobile] 📖 7 Days On Duolingo Challenge – Is it Worth It?

Learning a new language may be a bit daunting and even if you wanted to learn a new language where will you start? There are language learning classes that operate during the weekends but those may be expensive over time. You could do self-study, which may require buying textbooks but it is not quite the same as having a formal face-to-face learning experience.

Not all people have the luxury or opportunity to learn another language. For instance, America’s education system really doesn’t push students to learn a second language as it is not mandatory and is a missed opportunity to learn at a young age as they are more susceptible to soaking up another language as the brain still develops. Which leads to adults going out of their way to learn another language through other avenues such as through tertiary studies, if they are so inclined.

But enough of the essay on why language learning is important, what I’m getting at is this question: Is there an affordable or free way to learn another language?

Yeah. Like I said before, self-study is a bit more affordable than paid classes or tertiary studies but the motivation and responsibility to keep studying is based on you rather than a teacher/school pushing you to keep excelling. If you lack in motivation you may just fall off the wagon of studying. But there may be a way to fix this….

Introducing…. Duolingo.

*slaps hood* This bad boy holds about 37 languages, can be played via app or desktop browser, free to play (with ads) and has ranking boards in case you wanna learn language so hard that your brain explodes just to get that coveted No.1 spot.

I tried out the app version (I am not sponsored or anything lol) for about 7 days learning Korean and I thought it would be best to write down my thoughts in a blog post. So let’s go.

[2020 Recap & Review] What can I say but…

Yikes.

I think this is probably the only year that all of us as a collective can say we did not like 2020 one bit. If you did think 2020 was good/great then… idk what to say to you lol.

Again, just like 2019’s recap post I am writing this from the future of 2021 (January 1st). But let’s pretend I actually buckled down on the 31st of December 2020 to write this post before midnight strikes. Like usual, my end of year recap & review posts are basically a way for me to dump some quick reviews of stuff I didn’t get around making dedicated posts for because I was either A) Lazy or B) Didn’t have time to finish a game to review it (bc I was lazy).

[2019 Recap & Review] Bunny Recaps 2019 – A year that felt like 3 years rolled into one

Hello from the future of 2020. I missed out on writing this post on time during New Years Eve, but with the help of time travel I will correct that (hopefully it works lol).

So, sorry for the delay folks but better now than never. This year’s recap post won’t have the separate pages to break up the post like last year considering how hard it was to find the page number buttons. I’ll try my best to make this post easy to read through with navigation bars.

[Otome Watch] Spotlight – Sui Ishida x Broccoli Collaboration Project “JACKJEANNE”

JACKJEANNE is an upcoming Nintendo Switch game, part of a bigger multimedia project that is in collaboration between mangaka Sui Ishida, creator of Tokyo Ghoul, and Broccoli, well known for their Uta no Prince-sama franchise. The JACKJEANNE project has said to have been in production for 3 years now. The game is projected to release on the Nintendo Switch in 2020, which is quite a while away.

Just a refresher: Otome Watch posts is where I make posts about upcoming games/content and hopefully give it some attention. Though I usually focus on otome/josei-muke content with these posts I’ll make a special exception with this post (considering I’m unsure if this is otome or josei-muke).

I’ll be referring to a couple of articles from Japanese sites such as Famitsu, Dengeki Online and Natalie. In addition I’ll be referring to some tweets from the official twitter account. I’m not 100% fluent in Japanese, so take this information with a grain of salt but otherwise I’ll try my best to make it as accurate as I can.

[2018 Recap & Review] Bunny Recaps 2018 – A lazy long, but short year

Hewwo fellow kids, its that time of the year again where I write a very lengthy posts recapping this year of our lord 2018 and hoping people will read it because it is the only post I can write my thoughts on stuff that may not be otome related. I am your host Billy Billbus Baggins and this is the year that was.

[Switch] Quick look at… the Nintendo Switch

Yeah I caved in haha. This will be a hybrid post of an ‘unboxing’ and a quick look at the system. I’m certainly a year late on doing a little review on this console but maybe it’s better to hear it from an ‘otome’ consumer’s point of view (if that makes sense).

Hopefully this post will be useful and maybe even helpful now that I’ve had some first hand experience with a Switch.
