Waddup. It’s 2024 y’all!

It seems that January of every year is the driest month when it comes to game releases. Thank god Love and Deepspace releases this month or else I wouldn’t have anything to talk about lol.

Next month will be a doozy though, a lot of games releasing. Both in terms of otome games and general games like Persona 3 Reload, Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth, Granblue Fantasy: Relink etc. February will be a big month for RPG fans.

Anyway, back on track with this month’s overview. I’m still thinking about cooking that “A Date with Death” review for this month, though I’ve been wondering if I should review it after purchasing the DLC so I can review it as a whole with a DLC but idk.

I’ll have to weave that in along with streaming games lol. We’ll get there, fam.

■ Magazines “Cool-B” and “SweetPrincess” Ending Publication by Q1 2024

Magazine specialising in BL games/drama CDs etc “Cool-B” and it’s sister magazine “SweetPrincess” (specialising in otome, R18 and all ages etc) have announced that they will end publications early this year (2024).

Cool-B will release their final issue Vol. 115 on April 4, 2024.

SweetPrincess will release their final issue Vol.44 on March 5, 2024.

These magazines released every 2 months, with issues from Cool-B dating back all the way back to April 2005! These magazines were the go-to place for news on BL, otome, josei-muke–especially R18 content that you won’t normally see in other female-oriented entertainment magazines.

Cool-B even came with CDs that included game demos and wallpapers for those who purchased the magazine physically!

Cool-B and SweetPrincess is another example of physical media being phased out. A few years back, female-oriented entertainment magazine “Dengeki Girl’s Style” also stopped publishing magazines and now just posts online articles (usually just reposts from Dengeki Online‘s news articles). Right now the only ones left is B’s Log and maybe other magazines that target the female demographic.

It’ll be sad to see these magazines go as they were one of the few places I’d go to find new game releases, especially BL which is VERY niche.

Let’s keep supporting Cool-B and SweetPrincess until their last issue is published! You can purchase their magazines physically in CDJapan.

Josei-muke Horror Game List 118Gets Multi-Language Localisation!

The discount sale is already over btw

Josei-muke horror game “List 118” gets an English, Simplified Chinese, Traditional Chinese and Korean localisation patch! If you have purchased the Japanese version on DLSite you can redownload to get the language packs.

The game mixes both visual novel portions with overworld exploration in this urban myth styled horror game (think ‘Corpse Party’ but not really, I hope).

It is fully voiced, uses live2D sprites and is high quality. Demo is available (but I’m unsure if the demo has the localisation patch).

What in Hell is Bad News: Limited Angel L-rarities + Future NSFW Ver Plans

Christmas came early and three certain naughty angels will be getting coal stuffed in their stocking if you get what I mean 😏

For a limited time only, angels Gabriel, Michael and Raphel will be available to get through either gacha (Michael and Raphel through pay-to-roll gacha, they won’t appear ever again after January 9 [KST] apparently) or through a ‘battle pass’-like system called ‘Nightmare Pass’ (Gabriel only until January 18 [KST]). I am unsure if Gabriel will be added to the regular premium gacha.

For Christmas, players were given 500 Solomon Rings for free, which could be used to roll the limited-time gacha.

These angels are particularly special as they have [redacted/highlight to read] cock cages with sounding rods lmao [/redacted] which makes for some rather interesting ‘adoring’ actions [NSFW tweeter video that had gone viral recently].

Some fans have complained about the fact that the angels are hidden behind a paywall (and an expensive one at that).

Where you’ll have to purchase to unlock access to the Gabriel L-rarity reward for the Nightmare pass which could be all well and dandy if it wasn’t about $74.99 (for me, I think it’s in my currency), once you unlock it then you have to work your butt off to reach the reward in-game unless you pay for more for a fast track to unlocking it. But for what it’s worth, purchasing for that unlock tier gives you a lot of resources and rewards that the ‘free’ pass doesn’t give (though it still feels like asking for too much money for a sexay angel with a cock cage).

Prettybusy also announced that they are working on a “Adults Only” version to release on EroLabs (which is a long time coming especially with how Google Play kept making Prettybusy censor parts of their game since launch).

More ‘only-adult’ versions of L-rated character illustrations will be added into the January update which includes Main Story Chapter 5 as well as potentially a new demon–Lucifer (shown above without his pants in a barn, with a horse in the background. I’ve been on the internet for too long to know where this is goin).

Stay tuned for those updates!

Mobile Game Tasokare Hotel Sequel Teased Featuring New Character

According to this Dengeki Online article, Tasokare Hotel will be getting a completely new sequel by SEEC to be released on iOS and android devices. The above teaser introduces a new character.

It is currently under development with no confirmed title for the sequel nor release date window, but planning and scenario will be done by Benoma Ray who will be reprising their role as scenario writer.

■ from ARGONAVIS New Mobile Game “ARGONAVIS -Kimi ga Mita Stage e- Pre-registrations Open!

from ARGONAVIS Project will be releasing their latest mobile game “ARGONAVIS -Kimi ga Mita Stage e-” which is expecting an early-2024 release!

The new mobile game will include new two-man band ST//RAYRIDE. Not much is known about the gameplay other than it’ll have stat-raising/producing gameplay, unsure if there will be rhythm game elements like the previous mobile game but it seems least likely.

It will have story/visual novel elements with live2D models.

Currently the App Store (for iOS devices) pre-registration/pre-order page is available! So be sure to pre-reg/pre-order so the game will automatically download to your device once it releases:

While the App Store says it will release on March 31, take note that it might not be the official release and to keep yourself updated on the official release date by following the twitter account:

Otome Game Trials/Demos Available:

Last month two otome games got demos! Both are PC games, with Yamiiro no Majyu having already released while indie otome game Folie Fatale is slated for an early-2024 release.

Steam Prison finally confirms Project “Beyond the Steam” as a ‘Fandisc’

Steam Prison had been teasing a ‘new project’ for 2024 which they called “Steam Prison Beyond the Steam“, not really explaining what kind of project it will be.

That is, until last month when their lips became loosened and they spilled the beans that, yes, Beyond the Steam will be a fandisc for Steam Prison which will feature a new story and outfits for the Steam Prison cast. The fandisc is currently in development but has a planned release for 2024.

Considering HuneX EN also tweeted out the news may mean there’s hope for an English localisation (crossing fingers it’ll be a simultaneous release🤞)

Pre-orders for Ikki nendoroid begins December 15 until February 1, 2024.

If you pre-order from USA/Canada or Global Good Smile Online Shops you will get an acrylic stand bonus of nendoroid-style chibi Ikki:

Expected release date: June 2024

For other shopping options, consider these options (same price):

Tokimeki Memorial Girl’s Side 1, 2 and 3 Getting HD Port to the Nintendo Switch!

On Christmas, Konami delivered a special gift for otome and Tokimemo Girl’s side fans across the globe: an announcement that all 3 of their previous Tokimemo Girl’s side games that were stuck on dead consoles will be getting a HD port to the Nintendo Switch!

Tokimeki Memorial Girl’s Side 1, 2 and 3 will be available digitally on the Switch this Valentine’s Day (February 14, 2024)! For those interested in streaming or making gameplay videos of any of the ported games will have to wait for a month after release to upload/stream (basically the streaming embargo lifts on March 14, 2024).

The games are currently available for pre-order on the Japanese eShop:

I just hope that they localise the titles now that all 4 of the games are on the Switch (delusional).

Takuyo Finally Unveils the Name of their New Title “DistortedCode” & PV

Last month TAKUYO finally released the PV for their new upcoming Nintendo Switch otome game, which will be called “DistortedCode -Seija no Nokoriga-“.

It will be a psychological horror x suspense x occult. No news on a website nor voice actors have been released yet.

Keep an eye out for more information by following the TAKUYO account (idk which one is the main TAKUYO account bc they have a lot of accounts so check this tweet out):

Nu:Carnival announces Google Play & App Store Version “Nu:Carnival – Bliss”

Nu:carnival will have a planned release on the App Store (iOS) and Google Play (android), this version will be a slight toned down version to abide by Apple’s and Google’s terms and conditions and will be called “Nu:carnival Bliss“.

Pre-registrations are now available:

Ignore Apple’s expected release of January 24 as that may not be the official release date

Nu:carnival started out as an explicit R18 BL mobile game thanks to EroLabs hosting their game when the App store and Google play wouldn’t allow uncensored peens in their stores. The Bliss version may take away the peens but it is still rated as 17+ or MA15+ in app stores, so the H scenes may still be there, just a bit less explicit.

Though considering that “What in Hell is Bad” has cock cages shaped like actual dicks, suspicious white liquids, and descriptive text of sex scenes all the while they are still allowed on Google Play and App Store then maybe there’s no need to worry?

Either way, the ‘Bliss’ version has garnered a mixed reaction from fans, some not liking the potential censorship for this app store friendly version, others worried that it’ll bring in underage/minors into fandom spaces etc.

If you’re interested in this slight toned down version then keep your eyes open for it. It may be aiming for a 2024 release.

Nu:carnival Bliss will have different SNS accounts and are apparently in Japanese only for some reason. Check them out:

“Neon Carnival” is Back to Celebrate Nu:Carnival’s 2nd Anniversary!

Similar to last year, Nu:carnival will be celebrating it’s 2nd year anniversary in style with bringing back “Neon Carnival” in “Neon Carnival -The 2nd revel-“.

Neon Carnival is a live show where fans gather in a venue to celebrate and be entertained by voice actors on stage. Limited time only merch will be sold at the venue and a live stream (aside from the live show) will be available with English, Chinese, Japanese and Korean subtitles.

For more information on the second anniversary live show, check the link below:

For some reason the English translation of the site isn’t working, use google translate instead

Uuultra C Official Visual Fanbook “Asatte no Shinwa” Releasing Early-Spring 2024

Uuultra C will be releasing it’s official visual fanbook on March 25, 2024!

The fanbook’s title will be called “Uuultra C Official Visual Fanbook Asatte no Shinwa”.

Keep your eyes open for pre-order/purchase links by following ADELTA and/or Cool-B’s twitter accounts:

Re;quartz Raid Localisation by Chiffon Games to release Spring of 2024

Chiffon Games, the publisher that will be localising all-ages BL game “Re;quartz Raid” into English and Chinese, has teased a Spring 2024 release for the localisation on Steam.

Be sure to wishlist it on Steam to get notified when the English/Chinese version releases!

R18 BL Mobile Game “Noctilucent: Before Dawn” Delayed

Upcoming R18 mobile BL game “Noctilucent: Before Dawn” will be delayed. It was expecting a Winter 2023 release but has been delayed.

An explanation is available in the tweet above. Follow the twitter account for future updates!

—Final Words

I tried something different with my monthly overviews by grouping different news stories under different corners like ‘josei-muke’ corner for general female oriented stuff, otome corner for the otome game related news and bl corner for bl related news.

I should’ve done that a long time ago by grouping them to make it more organised and I’m surprised I’m only doing it now but hey, new year new me lol.

For those excited for Love and Deepspace to release, be sure to participate in the Pre-Draw campaign where you get to pull cards that will be put into your account (using your INFOLD account to transfer the cards to your game).

Read the tweet below for more information:

Getting the 3 rolls by creating an INFOLD account (or logging in if you have one) and sharing the campaign on social media is pretty easy but if you want to be greedy you’ll have to recruit your friends to join the kitty card cult and get kitty card cult themed 4* cards😏

Also here’s the 4* card that I won plus my invite QR code (if you want to use it):

Anyway I’m gonna hit the hay. I’ve been staying late at night to finish this post lol.

Thanks for reading as always and take care of yourselves!

  1. FYI the names you listed as the CN VAs for the Deepspace cast are actually just the character’s unlocalized names. The CN and EN voice casts have not been officially name dropped yet. There seems to be some back and forth on the CN side of community whether to name the VAs or not between those who think work should be credited vs those who value character immersion (think of it like vtuber fans who don’t want to see any of their oshi’s IRL content).

    1. Thanks for clarifying! Silly mistake on my part 😂 I can’t remember where I found it but thanks for alerting me!

Also that’s interesting that there are two sides on whether ppl want to see the VAs credited or not 😲 thanks for letting me know
