It’s 2023 2024 y’all and you know what that means? More josei-muke games to be released! (totally did not copy and past last years intro [yes i did])

As always I will try my best to find and record any game release info I come across. There is no guarantee that I will get to cover all the games but if you do know of any titles I missed please tell me in the comments below and I will add it to the list!

I used to use sources such as cool-b and otomelab but they barely updated in over a year so I’m just out here free falling lol. Nintendo’s Otome Game Feature Page is probably the best place to get your info of upcoming otome games for the Switch.

Any further information on each game such as staff credits is taken from VNDB (Visual Novel DataBase), it is a great website to get information on any kind of visual novel so please check it out.

2021 Overview – Upcoming Otome & BL Games

2020 was not too kind to the game industry with a couple announcements of titles being put on hold, development on some games going silent and release date delays. Hopefully 2021 gives some games a chance to release.

Usually I use sources such as cool-b’s and otomelab’s calendars to get a good idea on which games will be releasing this year but otomelab stopped updating theirs since 2019 and cool-b hasn’t updated their since October 2020 lol. So I’ll try my best catching some info that pops up on my tweetar feed and also Nintendo’s Otome Games Feature Page but there’s a good chance I might miss adding certain titles to this post.

2020 Overview – Upcoming Otome & BL Games

2020 marks the start of no otome games releasing on the PS Vita (possibly). So it’s sad to put our PS Vitas to rest, but we gotta move on with new titles releasing on the Switch and PC platforms.

As always I am using sources from Tweeter, cool-b’s and otomelab’s calendars. I may miss some more obscure title releases considering I don’t keep my eye on almost everything but I try to be as concise as possible. I will update this post whenever I can.

2019 Overview – Upcoming Otome & BL Games

Another new year means another new set of games to release. These days it seems like more game companies specialising in otome games are slowing down their production of games, while Otomate seems to be the only one on top reigning supreme. It seems to be a dire environment compared to the hayday of otome gaming, same could be said with BL game companies with Nitro+Chiral possibly being considered as the big OG in BL gaming while there are some small companies popping here and there making one or two games.

With the death of the PS Vita, things may get a bit messier or could just keep coasting with the Nintendo Switch or on mobile devices. Either way this niche may find a way to keep surviving.

Anyway, onto this overview. The sources I’ll be using to update this post throughout 2019 will be cool-b and otomelab‘s calendars. I used to use otomex as a source but seems like they haven’t updated in a long time.

2018 Overview – Upcoming Otome & BL Games

We’re in the year 2018 now and we have yet to arrive in a future where games aimed at women aren’t dumbed down, can be pretty fun with gameplay and is just as pandering in terms of fanservice in any other game aimed at the average male otaku (e.g Senran Kagura, Blue Reflection (kinda pandering), Any other D3P game that has a main cast of high school girls etc). Just cryogenic freeze me and thaw me out when that future happens. Just kidding.

This Overview Post will be a bit different than the previous years. I’ll do my best to write down the names of the main voice actors for each game and I’ll only write up summaries for games that already have a set date, which will help me get through this list faster.

Last year I couldn’t update the 2017 Overview post past July, 2017 because my browser would always lag because of all the youtube videos it tried to load, so hopefully I’ll post less youtube videos this time (particularly only posting youtube videos for games with set release dates).

2017 Overview – Upcoming Otome & BL Games

Saying goodbye to 2016 and its many kusoge, we are brought to a new year of prolly more kusoges. Just kidding.

Just like last year, I’ll try my best to list the upcoming games of 2017 in terms of Otome and BL, excluding mobile games because there’s like a billion of them ready to sneakily release without me knowing.

Let’s see what 2017 has in store for us, shall we?

A new year, a new set of games to be played. So what is in stall for us this year?  PSP ports, possibly? Maybe some more kusoge? Or could the next big thing be right under our noses?
