[Unboxing] Toraware no Palm Refrain -Collector’s Edition-

You may be asking “Why is Billy making an unboxing post for a game that released 3 years ago?”–Well… basically just the other day I was doing some spring cleaning when I happened upon it, after many years of my package from AmiAmi gathering dust in my room and spending a good while hidden under my bed I finally decided now is the best time to unbox it considering it was taking too much space underneath my bed 😂

Anyway, here is my 3 year belated unboxing of Toraware no Palm -Refrain- Collector’s edition. I already did an unboxing post for the first Toraware no Palm game and you can read it here 👇:

[Unboxing] Toraware no Palm -Collectors Edition-

Yeah I caved in and bought the collectors edition. I wonder how much money have I donated to Capcoms cause of milking every franchise they have 🤔 But at least on the bright side I didn’t fork out 18,000 yen for the Capcom Limited Collectors Edition (though this collectors edition sent me back maybe around…

I bought my copy of Toraware no Palm -Refrain- Collector’s Edition from AmiAmi, going for the AmiAmi Exclusive Bonus (no longer available) with the tin badge stand because how can one resist such a good looking Chiaki illustration 🤤

I used to use my DSLR camera to do unboxing but now I can’t be bothered and just throw it into line camera for touch ups lo

For a quick rundown on what the Collector’s Edition has inside the package:

  • The physical game box
  • The Collector’s Edition box
  • The canvas board
  • The chibi acrylic stand
  • The book cover that uses the same design as the “Golden Bee” book in-game

I got the AmiAmi exclusive bonus so I was also given a huge tin badge that has a paper stand.

Now that I have both editions I can compare them to each other! For some reason the canvas board for -Refrain- is smaller in depth but I’m also thankful they cut off the excess canvas material, which they didn’t do for the first collector’s edition (and it was bothering me a lot with how it stuck out).

The chibi acrylic stands are also pretty cute now with all 3 of the boys together.

And finally the book sleeve/cover! At first I didn’t know what it was for when I first unboxed the whole thing (to tell you the truth I had actually forgotten what was packed in the collector’s edition 😂) until I remembered it was a book sleeve. Now, because Japan’s books/novels are smaller in size compared to the books us foreigners use, this book sleeve is only big enough for those size novels.

Luckily I had a Japanese book/novel that I bought a long time ago that fits perfectly for the “Golden Bee” dust cover… it’s the Ensemble Stars novel “Utagoe yo Ten Made Todoke” that I never got around to reading because kanji muzukashii 😭.

Anyway I’ll just use it for aesthetic purposes as well as using it for it’s true purpose.

The tin badge stand from AmiAmi is particularly cool… and ridiculously huge. I kind of regret not getting the AmiAmi exclusive bonus for the first game.

But I don’t know if it was because it was in the box for so long or the way that it was cut, but I had some trouble pulling out the cardboard at the back of the badge that makes the stand but thankfully my long nails saved the day and I managed to pull it out 😎💅.

Just like the first game’s physical game box, -Refrain- has a reversible jacket… and even more curiously there’s an instruction manual. This is the first time in a long time that I’ve seen a game have a manual and utilizes the little clip thingies on the Switch game package 😂.

There was also a bonus that I could claim because I bought the physical edition but the claim window is long gone (March 2020) and even if I did opened my package back in 2020, the claim window was really short and the time I got my package it would’ve been already too late.

Either way whatever that bonus was it’ll remain a mystery for me.

Anyway if you are curious how big these collector’s editions…. they’re pretty HUGE. Like bigger than my hand and my hand is about 17~18 cm. Here’s a picture for scale:

They really had no business in being this huge fr 😭 But either way they’re very beautiful to look at. As expected from Chisato Mita, absolute goat of an illustrator.

Anyway that’s about all for this collectors edition unboxing! It’s unfortunate that it is probably sold out by now but I guess that’s why it’s limited/collector’s edition.

Hopefully one day I’ll play this again, now that I have all the DLC in the physical edition I can see all kinds of cute sides of Chiaki that was originally hidden behind paywalls in the original mobile game.

Perhaps I could stream it one day too? Mayhaps? 😳👉👈

Thanks for reading! Take care of yourselves.
