September is a chock full month of game releases, though I kinda wished these games were released a bit spread out throughout the year so people’s wallets could have a break 😆 This month will also be marked as the month where Otomate starts porting some of their games to the Nintendo Switch. I really hope that this move to the Switch is successful because (not gonna lie) it feels better to play visual novels on the Switch, and the Switch has a better storage thing going on.
The last half of last month I was a bit busy with reorganising my room, getting a new bed because my back was in pain for a while but now things have settled I can go back to doing some blog work haha.
Anyway, time to summarise each game that’ll be released this month.
Hakuouki Shinkai Fuukaden for the Switch is a port to the Nintendo Switch of a PS4 game that was also a port of two PS Vita games rolled into one, these PS Vita games were also ‘remakes’ of the original Hakuouki game for the PS2 which was then ported to the PSP and eventually on the PS3, then to Nintendo DS and Nintendo 3DS, probably getting a mobile version down the road and eventually had the PS Vita ver localised in English which then got a PC release (Note: the PS Vita ‘remake’ adds new characters and additional routes for existing character which was then split into two games with separate release dates). Phew. Yeah. Basically Hakuouki has been ported to almost all consoles under the sun–excluding the Xbox which sells terribly in Japan.
Code:Realize ~Saikou no Hanataba~ is a port to the Nintendo Switch of a PS4 game which was made up of two PS Vita games–one being the original Code:Realize game and the other being it’s second fandisc game (the one that isn’t Christmas themed).
Kiniro no Corda 3 Full Voice Special is a PS Vita port of the PSP ver that included fully voiced lines. It is the first Corda game that tells the story of Kohinata Kaede, Kiniro no Corda 4 being the sequel to Corda 3.
Kiniro no Corda 3 Another Sky feat. Jinnan/Shiseikan/Amane Gakuen is a PS Vita port of the PSP fandisc for Kiniro no Corda 3. Originally there were 3 fandiscs (feat. Jinnan, feat. Shiseikan, feat. Amane Gakuen) for the PSP but because the PS Vita can hold more content than the PSP, all of those fandiscs can be played in one game cartridge.
Nil Admirari no Tenbin -Irodori Nadeshiko- is a port to the Nintendo Switch which combines the original Nil Admirari on the PS Vita and it’s fandisc/sequel into one game. I have a sneaking suspicion that this game was originally a port to the PS4 before Otomate switched to the Switch, but that’s just my suspicion and is prolly far from the truth.
Norn9 LOFN is a port to the Nintendo Switch which combines the original Norn9 Var Commons game and its fandisc Norn9 Last Era.
Koshotengai no Hashihime is a port to the PS Vita of an R18 BL PC game. Because it’s a PS Vita port of an R18 game, it will have no explicit CGs (aka sexy times) and will probably be replaced with toned down CGs–it doesn’t mean they can’t imply sexy times were had 😉 There will be a new opening movie for this port as well as playable short stories. In other news, Koshotengai no Hashime will be localised in English by MangaGamer which will have an R18 version as well as an All Ages version.
Sanzen Sekai Yuugi ~Re Multi Universe Myself~ is a port to the PS Vita of an R18 PC Game, which means it’ll be downgraded to a ‘safe-for-work’ version. It’ll have a voiced heroine, original extra episode for the PS Vita ver with new event CGs, refinement of the CGs from the PC ver and touch screen functions. It seems interesting but I can’t help myself but think that one of the romanceable dudes looks strikingly like Dante from Devil May Cry and I am absolutely losing my shit.
Katakoi Contrast -Way of Parting- Vol.1 is a PC game. It’s the first volume of triAngle Project’s second game series focusing on love triangles. Unlike Tricolity Eyes where it had 3 heroines, Katakoi Contrast has only one heroine with numerous love triangles lol. The first volume will focus on the heroine in a love triangle with her classmates. This series will be illustrated by Udajo, the artist well known for their work in Brothers Conflict.
Gunka o Haita Neko is Primula’s next PC game. It will focus on ‘cats’, ‘army’ and a ‘collapsed world’ (aka post-apocalyptic maybe). Expect a lot of cat boys and cat girls in this game. The only thing that interests me about this game is that my fav voice actor Shunsuke Takeuchi is in it, though despite having a deep voice he’ll be voicing a 13 year old cat boy (you’d be surprised when you listen to his voice samples, you’d hardly recognise it was him).
That’s about it for this month.
Thanks for reading!
So glad the Switch ports for NORN9 and Nil both include their fandisks. They better do the same for AMNESIA too! ❤ Thanks for this informative post~

They better do the same for Amnesia lol. That game has a couple of Fandiscs and spinoffs right? It would be a shame if they split it up just to get more profits.

Every time I read your monthly overviews it gives me the motivation to keep going with my Japanese studies – there’s so many good games coming out that I need to play!!!

Yah, I hope your studies are doing well. Once you get the basics down and head towards a bit of the intermediate parts of the Japanese language you’re pretty much good to go starting off with easy/casual games e.g. high school setting games etc. (just stay clear of games with heavy use of kanji lol like collar x malice with its use of technical words).
Good luck!

Thanks!! I’ve got the UtaPri vita game, so I might give that a shot. I’ve heard Psychic Emotion 6 is one of the easiest ones to play through so hopefully I can pick that up at some stage. Out of interest how long did it take you to be able to play games and stuff?

I started playing games after finishing 6 years of japanese in high school which kinda clears up the basics and dives a bit into intermediate. It took a bit of time to put what I’ve learnt into practice bc i didnt use my skills outside of classes until then lol. It rly helps to read and listen to materials in japanese so you can get used to the language outside of textbook exercises.

Thank you! I’ll definitely start delving into more materials.

Have you ever thought to yourself “I don’t need anything this month” and then you look at your calendar again and suddenly think “I need all of it!”??
That was me. Like last night lol. I forgot Gunneko was coming out this month ^q^ I was organizing my calendar last night and was staring at the entry and suddenly thought to myself “I totally wanna play that” lmao wtf is wrong with me _(:3ノヽ)ノ
I’m seriously, seriously hoping the move to Switch is successful! I’m considering getting the Nil Admirari switch package since I never got it for Vita lol. I didn’t think I’d like my Switch as much as I do and it really is a great handheld and console for VNs. The ability to stick my Switch in and play on the big screen is just ಠ◡ಠ too good ಠ◡ಠ
Anyways as usual thanks for all your hard working keeping up with these monthly release posts~

Yuh thats kinda like me seeing other fellow otome twitter mutuals posting their otoge haul and it makes me go “damn….. I should get those games even tho some of them might be kusoge” lol.
And i agree about the switch, like one moment i could be playing a VN in TV mode using one joycon to keep advancing (or use auto lol) and the next minute i could be lounging around on my bed playing it on tabletop mode on my bedside table lol. It fits to my lazy needs perfectly.
And thanks for the thanks!
